I. Entry Visa

International students can apply for visa at any Chinese Embassy or Consulate in their home country. Documents required for registration include a valid passport, original document of Admission Letter and copy of Visa Application to study in China form (JW201/JW202). When retrieving your passport and entry visa from the Embassy or Consulate, please make sure they return the originals of the Admission Letter and Visa Application to study in China JW201/JW202. These documents are to be handed to Public Security Bureau when applying for a residence permit in China.

Notes：

1) Students who study in China more than 6 months should hold an X1 visa for entering China. X1 visa is valid for 30 days. X1 visa holders shall apply for a residence permit within 30 days on arrival to ensure their stay in China.

2) According to Chinese laws and regulations, visa-free entry cannot be changed into other types of visa within Chinese territory. Please apply for X1/X2 visas.

3) International students must register at the time specified in on the Admission Letter. If you need to enter China in advance, it is recommended that it should not be earlier than 2 weeks before the registration date given in the Admission Letter, as you can apply for a residence permit only after you have registered on campus.

II. Registration Documents

1. Valid passport and visa

2. Original document of Admission Letter

3. Copy of visa application for students in China (JW201/JW202)

4. Physical examination record (originals in English, if available)

III. Medical Insurance

According to the rules and regulations of Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China, international students living and studying in China should purchase medical insurance in order to proceed with registration procedures. Students can register on the Chinese Insurance website 15 days before registration (http://www.lxbx.net), and purchase online medical insurance "Plan 3" covered by Pingan Insurance Company in China. You can also purchase medical insurance on the day and place of registration. Students who have not purchased medical insurance cannot proceed with registration.

IV. Accommodation

1. New students need to do the dormitory check-in (refer to the provisions of the accommodation management in the International Student Handbook).

2. When registering, students need to pay by year (if they decide to leave during one semester, the amount paid will not be refunded).  

3. Students shall apply for the residence certificate at the ISC(office 601, East 2 Building), and then go to Wenyuan Police Station to apply for the Registration Form of Temporary Residence for Foreigners.

*According to the regulations, international students must register at the local police within 24 hours after they have settled in. Those who fail to register after the deadline will be punished by the local police station according to the standard of 100 yuan for each overdue day to a maximum of 1000 yuan.

V. Physical Examination

Students with X1 visa are required to change the visa to a residence permit and asked to do a physical examination. Students may do the physical examination in their home country or on their arrival in China in designated locations.

Students doing physical examination outside China must bring original report of examination along with test results to the local quarantine office to have their medical examination verified. If examination meets all requirements, the quarantine office will issue a proof of physical examination records. If examination does not meet all requirements, you will be asked to complete health check or retake it, after which the local quarantine office will issue a proof of physical examination records.

Students who choose to do physical examination in Ningbo can wait for ISC to make arrangements for physical examinations.
